So Fresh and So Smooth(ie)

Aren’t smoothies the greatest? What’s better than a healthy, quick, and easy smoothie that tastes great and makes you feel good too? With Spring’s grand arrival, I’ve found myself craving a good smoothie more often. Today I’m sharing a couple of recipes that I think you’ll love!

The first is a Tropical Green Smoothie and is an original creation by the owner and creative director of White Plum, Hilary. “Back in my former life of healthy living, before I was running a business and living off of McDonalds, I used to drink this almost every day. I’ve been getting back into my smoothie regimen its very energizing and refreshing, plus my 18 month old loves them.”

1 cup frozen pineapple

2/3 cup frozen mango

1-1.5 cups coconut water

1 banana

2 handfuls spinach

1 tsp coconut oil (optional)

Blend all ingredients together and on high speed until smooth.

A hint for those who have never made a green smoothie: there are fancy appliances on the market now for juicing and making green smoothies {i.e. Vita-Mix, etc.} But for us traditional and loyal blender-users, a blender should work just fine! Simple blend the liquids and spinach first, then add the fruits and other solid ingredients.

The second recipe is a little more of an indulgence. This is an adaptation of a recipe I made in college, when I was trying to be healthy, but couldn’t resist the urge to snack on junk food. This is the perfect treat to indulge, but is a slightly better option than other things you might reach for {i.e. late night In-N-Out, Costco pizza, or brownies and cupcakes from the all-too-common baking sprees}

Enter, Cookie Butter and Banana Smoothie.

1 ripe banana

2 tbsp. cookie butter

1/2 cup vanilla yogurt (we recommend a sweet vanilla yogurt so the taste isn’t overpowering)

splash of milk

1/4 tsp. cinnamon

1/4 tsp. nutmeg

1 tbsp. chocolate syrup

Blend all ingredients together on high speed until smooth.

What are your favorite smoothie recipes? Any combos you can’t live without? Which of these two do you want to try first? We’d love to hear your thoughts!
