The Classic Curl

Posted: Apr 01 2014

Timeless, gorgeous, and versatile. The classic curl is a go-to look for anything from fancy weddings, to week days when you simply feel like doing more to your hair than quickly throwing it up in a messy bun.

Start with completely dry hair, heat protecting spray, and a 1-inch curling iron. Separate your hair into 1-inch sections and spray the heat protecting spray on your hair.

Close the curling iron a few inches from your scalp. Twist the iron away from your face, and as you spiral, move down to the bottom of the section of hair. Once there is about 1 inch of your hair left at the bottom, release the iron from your hair.

Repeat until all of your hair is curled. Note: you will always curl away from your face, so be sure to adjust the direction of your curl when you move from the left side of your head to the right.

Spray hair lightly with hairspray. Run your fingers through your curls to loosen them and create more of a loose wave, rather than a Shirley Temple look.

Use a balm or paste to flatten down the fly-aways and frizz.

Where is your favorite place to wear curly hair? What are some of your favorite hair products? Do you have a recommendation for the best curling iron?
